What is hepta fluoro propane?

Heptafluoropropane (designated as HFC-227ea or FM-200) is a colorless, odorless, and electrically non-conductive gas commonly used as a fire suppression agent in data centers, hospitals, museums, and other facilities. It extinguishes fires primarily by physically removing heat from the combustion process. It is a halocarbon compound, a member of the family of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and is composed of carbon, fluorine, and hydrogen atoms. In addition to its fire suppression properties, HFC-227ea exhibits zero ozone-depleting potential and low global warming potential (GWP). It is generally considered safe for use in occupied spaces. However, it can cause health hazards if swallowed, inhaled, or the skin makes contact with it. HFC-227ea is also known by its trademarked name FE-227.
